Nice To See He's Keeping His Resolution.

February 24, 2010

Little warning before we start: today's comic contains minor spoilers for the DLC chapters of Assassin's Creed 2, but seeings as these revelations are so insignificant to the story, feel free to read anyway.

The long and short of it is at the end of the first DLC chapter, they introduce a character seen only for about ten seconds shrouded in a black cloak and all you're told about him is that he only has nine fingers. So logically since they went to such trouble to hide this guy's identity only to tell you he's missing a finger, I and (I can only assume) several other people believed this mysterious man was Altaïr. I further assume that the developers did this on purpose, as in the core game they allude to the fact the Altaïr had the opportunity to increase his lifespan and at one point was torn over doing so. However, last Thursday, when the second DLC chapter came out it was revealed that this nine-fingered man wasn't Altaïr, but instead just some random guy. LAME!

I however still hold out the belief that Altaïr did indeed extend his life and that you'll run into him at some point in Assassin's Creed 3, probably as a villain of some sort, but we'll see.
