NFTs: The Token is a Very "Token" Token

December 03, 2021

Do not try to funge the token, that's impossible. Instead only try to realize the truth. There is no Token. In all seriousness, when I posted the first NTF comic to twitter it was immediately shared by an NTF bot, then another slightly more sophisticated bot suggested I share the comic on some NFT website. All of this doesn't help sway me from the thought that NFTs are all a fad assholes are using to trick morons into investing into something that is worthless. I mean they can't even make bots that can differentiate between things that are actually NFTs, or webcomics giving NFTs the piss, but I digress. This comic gets to my root problem with NFTs. The ridiculous prices they are selling for. Much like the exponentially growing prices of sealed in box NES auctions, I feel that NFTs are a market being manipulated by a handful of rich assholes for rich asshole purposes, tax evasion, money laundering. I mean surely a GIF of Jake Paul opening up a pack of Pokemon cards isn't worth $125,000? A GIF That was ripped from a livestream tens of thousands of people saw, all of whom could have also ripped the same exact clip they turned into an NFT that sold for $125,000.

You know what totally isn't worth $125,000? Our Patreon! It's worth at least a dollar.
