Finailly finished with this one, took me a while but I'm fairly proud with what I've made. You may notice, (at least I hope you notice,) today's comic is shaded very differently than normally. Usually I shade by giving each shape a base color, than outline places of detail with a shadow, or highlight color, but I felt that way of doing it was to simplistic for this comic.
Today's comic is from Red Dead Redemption, one of the best games I've played in resent memory and I say will hands down be the Game of the Year, but that isn't to say there are a few things I didn't care. in the game.
Gatling Guns, normally getting to be behind the trigger of a Gatling Gun in a video game spells certain victory for you, but that is not the case in Red Dead Redemption, in fact I think the majority of the missions I failed and had to retry in the game involved the Gatling Gun. You see, during the course of the game you have availible to you a "Dead Eye" meter, and what does this meter do you might ask. It lets you slow down time momentarily allowing you to take extremely precise shots and lock on multiple targets at once. I will admit I abused the hell out of this feature, cause hey, the developers put it in the game, they want you to use it. Now getting back to the heart of the matter. The Gatling Gun is by far the fastest gun in the game, however it is very awkward to control and aim, so when you're behind the Gatling Gun it's the perfect time to use Dead Eye, right? Wrong, cause for whatever reason the game won't let you enter Dead Eye while you're using a Gatling Gun. On top of that each Gatling Gun you use in the game is bolted to a platform out in the open, and while you're raining down bullets on the enemy you're still a very easy target. Oh and it really pissed me off to see the one point in the game when the enemy uses a Gatling Gun on you his gun has a fucking shield around it, forcing you to sneak up and flank him instead of just being able to shoot him in the head like you should.
Anywho, back to the art style in this comic. I like how it came out, and truthfully it doesn't take that much longer than my normal style. I think this is the style I'll start using for all the comic that take place in a video game, when appropriate.
And in closing, like the characters from that WoW comic a while ago I ended up cropping a lot of my original drawing to make them fit into the frames of the comic, and since I like how they came out I'll be posted the uncropped versions on my portfolio site, but not right now, cause it's 5:00 in the morning and I'm kind of sleepy.
