So when I was drawing yesterday’s comic I had an idea for another way it could have ended, so yeah, that’s today’s comic. That and I have some more to say about Mortal Kombat now that it’s out.
First off, what the fuck? Second off, fuck you Sony. Why do I say this? Well for the longest time it was known that Kratos from God of War would be a Playstation exclusive character, while the production team decided to not confirm nor deny an exclusive character for the Xbox version, instead they let it be a mystery. Well now that the game is out who’s the Xbox exclusive character? NOBODY! There isn’t one. Now I don’t own a Playstation 3, but if I did, I’d be getting the Playstation version for the extra character alone. I can only hope that since they plan on having DLC characters in the future that the Xbox gets an exclusive that way.
This whole thing reminds me of when Soul Calibur 2 came out, at least then each console got an exclusive character. Again I didn’t own one of the consoles then either, so the original Xbox and it’s Spawn didn’t sway me at all, so it came down to Playstation 2 with Heihachi, from Tekken, or the Gamecube, with Link from The Legend of Zelda. Well my choice was obvious, and it was the same choice that pretty much everyone I knew made. Gamecube version! The sales figures show it, an exclusive character can have a huge impact on which system gamers buy a game for. Despite the Gamecube’s noticeably weaker graphics, and controllers that aren’t designed for fighting games, the Gamecube version of Soul Calibur 2 out sold the competition.
Now in this day and age when the difference between a game running on an Xbox 360 and a game running on a Playstation 3 are for the most part, completely identical, you can’t tell me the Playstation version of Mortal Kombat isn’t going to out sell the Xbox version hands down.
