Handled The New Character Transition Smoother Than Two and a Half Man Did.

According to an older wiser, and much more respected Internet personality all gaming web comics will eventually add a steady female character, if one wasn't established from the start. He goes further to say that this character will inevitably become the main character's girlfriend. Well with today's comic I'll admit for my comic at least the first part of his theory is correct, the second however is not. This comic isn't supposed to be a self indulgent fantasy world for me, nor will it ever be. Though people who know me in real life can argue that Danny's character design is self indulgent enough. Giving him a girlfriend would be treading straight into Gary Stu territory.

When I has in college I had to take a class in diversity studies as a graduation requirement. I took a class that looked at the role of genders through out the 20th century. In part of the class we talked about sitcoms and the base roles the characters play. The teacher explained that pretty much all characters can fit into three categories, the skemer, the innocent and the fool. The skemer is always up to something, and in many cases drives the plot. The innocent is the straight man, and is generally neutral and happens to just get pulled along by the plot. The fool, however is simply a fool, there for comic relief and random periods of insight. Danny, Jeb and Brad are very much these characters. Another example of this formula could be seen in Seinfeld, with George, Jerry, and Kramer filling those roles respectfully. However their is a fourth main character on that show, one who originally apart of the show, but was added to give a female perspective. And with that the namesake of my new character is obvious.
