I Guess Burger Town Doesn't Carry Coke Products.

Mountain Dew, it's delicious. I enjoy it from time to time. Sometimes you get a bottle of Mountain Dew and under the cap is a little code you can use and redeem crap, or win a prize or some other bullshit that will most likely unstall tracking cookies on your computer, but I digress.

Pepsi and Activision will soon start a cross promotion for the upcoming Modern Warfare 3. The gist of the promotion is that code under your Mountain Dew can be redeemed in game to earn twice the experience points in the multiplayer game. So what's the big deal about that? I'll tell you!

People complain now already about store specific pre-order bonuses altering the multiplayer game, giving those who pre-ordered a slight advantage. Fair enough. A special gun or two isn't going to unbalance the game, and besides, it's a pre-order bonus, it's not like you have to pay any extra for it. But this is different, here's why this is slightly evil. One unlike the pre-order bonus you have to pay for this by buying Mountain Dew. Two the bonus XP only lasts so long, 15 minutes for the 20 oz. bottle, 45 for a 12 pack, and seeing as these games are played by millions of ravenous fans, Pepsi stands to make millions of dollars of profit from people who need to level as fast as possible. Lastly three, this is going to make the online very unbalanced. There will be crazy fans stockpiled up of Mountain Dew, inputting code after code until they reach the top. So if you pick up Modern Warfare 3 next month, and just can't understand why so many people are maxed level already, scoop up your virtual brains from the floor and go buy a cool refreshing Mountain Dew.
