Like the name of the comic implies the shirt is indeed a metaphor. A metaphor for the ending of Mass Effect 3, or should I say endings? No, ending is more correct. I say this because the developers, while still working on Mass Effect 3 claimed that the ending to the game was going to reflect the choices you have made through out the course of the three games, while in reality all of the endings share about 99% of their content, with the differences being minimal, and the most noticable difference being the color of an explosion. But in the explosion's defense it was a really big explosion.
Slightly different colored explosions aside there's the more pressing matter that the ending was rather underwhelming, conpacted with the fact that after everything is done you get a prompt saying that says, "Commander Shepard has become a legend by ending the Reaper threat. Now you can continue to build the legend through further gameplay and downloadable content. This leads players to believe that BioWare has an awesomer ending, but has decided to make it DLC, which is douche baggery at it's finest.
